Aanleiding is de teruggave aan Marokko van gestolen archeologische voorwerpen. In een verklaring op de website van de nationale bibliotheek van Chili zei de directeur Soledad Abarca dat de overeenkomst tot stand kwam na jaren samenwerking. De gestolen fossielen uit Marokko werden door inspecteurs in Chili onderschept tot blijdschap van de ambassadeur van Marokko die de stukken terug kreeg. De teruggave van het culturele erfgoed onderstreept het belang van internationale samenwerking.
