De laatste kwalificatie voor het WK was in 1997 toen de groep Afrikaans kampioen werd door dezelfde tegenstander van vandaag met 1-0 te verslaan. Het elftal eindigde op het WK in Maleisië als vierde. Het wereldkampioenschap in Chili vindt dit jaar tussen 27 september en 19 oktober plaats. Doel bereikt In een reactie zei aanvoerder Houssam Essadak, beste speler van de halve finale tegen Egypte, dat zijn team voor twee doelen mee doet. Het eerste is de kwalificatie voor het WK in Chili.. Het tweede is de Afrikaanse titel halen zoals het voetbalteam U17 een maand eerder.
