Volgens het officiële persbureau ENA is het bezoek een mijlpaal in de lange geschiedenis van de betrekkingen tussen beide landen. Naast de militaire samenwerking willen beide landen kennis uitwisselen op het gebied van landbouw en technologie. Het OCP heeft in september 2021 [een contract getekend](https://souss.nl/images/nieuws/Marokko/ocp-morocco-ethiopia-2021.jpg) voor de bouw van een fabriek voor kunstmest. Ethiopië is bezig met de bouw van een groot stuwdam op de rivier de Nijl om landbouwgrond in droge gebieden van water te voorzien.
