Dat komt bijna twee jaar na de verkiezing van de huidige president William S. Ruto. In een bericht uit september 2022 schreef hij op zijn social media account: "We are accelerating relations with the Kingdom of Morocco in areas of trade, agriculture, health, tourism, energy, among others, for the mutual benefit of our countries. Kenya supports the United Nations framework as the exclusive mechanism to find a lasting solution of the dispute over Western Sahara." Kenya wil meer handel met Marokko en is geïnteresseerd in kunstmest waar de landbouw in het Oost Afrikaanse land van afhankelijk is. Volgens de lokale krant The Star van 08 april heeft de nieuwe ambassadrice Jessica Gakinya een pleidooi in het parlement gehouden en was optimistisch over de toekomst van de betrekkingen tussen beide landen.
