Dat zei de Chinese ambassadrice in Marokko tegenover krant L'Economiste. Ze citeert de aankondiging van de Chinese president Xi Jinping afgelopen juni op het Forum voor de samenwerking tussen China en Afrika gehouden in Changsha. De Chinese president zei op het Forum dat China bereid is om met 53 landen te onderhandelen over de voorwaarden van de toelating van de producten. Over Marokko zei de ambassadrice dat de afschaffing van de heffingen een kans biedt voor beide landen om handelsbetrekkingen te versterken en meer Chinese investeringen in Marokko aan te trekken. China is geïnteresseerd in landbouwproducten uit Marokko. Het land is op dit moment de tweede bestemming in Afrika waar Chinezen het meest investeren. De Chinese aankondiging om producten uit Afrika toe te laten komt na Amerikaanse maatregelen om importheffingen op Chinese producten te verhogen.
