Hij was al een tijd ziek. Dat heeft zijn familie bekend gemaakt. Hij is in 1955 in Safi geboren, had in verschillende nationale media gewerkt en verschillende programma's op televisie en radio gepresenteerd. Hij was ook columnist en hoofdredacteur van verschillende publicaties, waaronder La vie économique, Le Journal en La Gazette du Maroc. In een interview aan het einde van zijn leven heeft hij erkend dat links in Marokko een fout heeft gemakt door de amazigh identiteit van het land te verzwijgen.
